Fast Lane - 6 Hour
Our Fast Lane program is designed for individuals with about 30 hours of driving experience. This program is not recommended for beginner drivers.
The 6-Hour Fast Lane program includes 6 hours of Behind the Wheel instruction, which consists of 3 two-hour lessons. Students are picked up and dropped off safely at home, school, work, or any specified location within the majority of PolkCounty.
Our lessons are Monday – Friday, with our earliest start time at 9 am and latest start time at 3:30 pm. Saturdays are limited availability and at instructors’ discretion.
Students will be using our driver’s education vehicles, equipped with dual mirrors and dual brakes.
In the 6-hour program, students are already familiar with the basics of driving. They understand the basic skills of operating a motor vehicle, including use of brake and gas pedals, making proper left and right turns, as well as different parking techniques such as straight-in and angled parking. Here, they will focus on defensive driving as well as preparing for the road test. Students are assessed on the first lesson to make sure they can keep up with the difficulty of this program; if they do not have the proper experience the instructor will advise to upgrade to the full Learn to Drive Program. The instructors also prepare the students for the road test, teaching them the road test procedures so they know exactly what they will be tested on.
On the last lesson, the student will be picked up as normal, and they will drive here to the school for a final road test prep before they take our road test. We are a third party administrator of the road test and offer our own state-approved roadtest course with state-licensed examiners. Students will have the comfort and ease of taking a road test with our friendly staff, using the same vehicle they have been practicing with during their lessons. We are the oldest third party road test administrator in Polk County, giving our students an advantage over a lot of other schools.
Once the student completes and passes the road test, we give a certificate that will allow them to get in line at any Tax Collector’s office in Polk County without an appointment. The certificate must be presented at one of the five Polk County Tax Collector’s offices (Lakeland, Lake Wales, Bartow, Davenport, Lake Alfred) Monday – Friday between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm, so long as it is not a holiday.
